Colors of the Palouse
Spring - Tangerine skies and sweet light blue.
Shimmering, tall waving grass.
Baby green sprouts layering the rolling hills.
Mixed with the healthy, full brown.
Chipped red of barns
Nestled in the crevasse of the hills.
White farm houses - neat and well used.
Sparkling stream flowing down the river bank.
Moss green and blue.
Twisting and winding through the rocks and trees.
Patchwork fields and windy ones.
Working together to create calm serenity.
Peace in the Palouse.
Well written poem about the Palouse. I could actually picture in my mind the old farm houses that are white and the red barns. Very graphic details in the color to help the reader to envision the fields.
ReplyDeleteI like that each stanza speaks to another piece of your experience. It was very easy to imagine what you were describing. I felt like this was something very moving for you to experience.
ReplyDeleteI like "neat and well-used" the best. It reminds me of my folks' place. It is definitely well-used and neat, though not a big farm house. It has the feel of long-lived-in. Is that what you meant by well-used?
